Markus enjoying the breeze by Marina Beach at Edmonds, Washington

We recently had the pleasure of embarking on a delightful trip to Edmonds, a coastal town nestled in the heart of Washington State. Located just 25 minutes north of Seattle, Edmonds captivated us with its quaint charm, breathtaking natural beauty and vibrant community spirit.

As we stepped foot into downtown Edmonds, I was immediately greeted by a sense of warmth and friendliness. The streets were lined with charming boutiques, inviting cafes and restaurants, all exuding a sense of creativity and local pride. Walking along Main Street, we couldn't resist popping into unique shops, discovering handmade crafts, vintage treasures and a delightful array of local goodies.

With our dog, we were thrilled to explore the wonders that Edmonds had to offer including Brackett's Landing and Marina Beach Park. The briny scent of the sea filled the air as seagulls glided overhead, creating a tranquil atmosphere that instantly put us at ease. Walking along the waterfront, we marvelled at the stunning views of the Puget Sound, dotted with islands and framed by distant mountains.

Where We Stayed in Edmonds

  • Location: Best Western Plus Edmonds Harbor Inn

  • Pet Fee: $30/pet per night up to 2 dogs

In Edmonds, we had the pleasure of staying at the Best Western Plus Edmonds Harbor Inn. Our experience at this cozy hotel was delightful, thanks to their thoughtful amenities and pet-friendly accommodations.

One of the highlights of our stay was the fact that our room had direct access from the outside, which meant that we didn't have to go through the hotel with Markus to access our room. This was a wonderful feature for us, as Markus is a reactive dog who feels more comfortable with minimal foot traffic. Being able to enter and exit our room without passing through a crowded lobby or hallway was a great convenience that made our stay all the more pleasant.

Our room at the Best Western Plus Edmonds Harbor Inn was spacious and well-appointed. What made it even better was the suite layout, which included a separate room within the room. This additional space allowed us to spread out and relax, providing Markus with his own little sanctuary where he could feel at ease. If you're staying here, we'd definitely recommend checking to see if the suite is within your budget.

Although the hotel grounds didn't offer much area for walking outside, there was a short trail available, perfect for a quick stroll or stretching our legs. However, we mostly found ourselves walking around the parking lot area, which was still convenient and safe for Markus. If you're looking for a more scenic walk, a little exploration beyond the hotel's immediate vicinity will lead you to Brackett's Landing South. This nearby destination offers a lovely coastal experience, with stunning views of the water and a tranquil atmosphere.

Aside from the comfortable accommodations, the Best Western Plus Edmonds Harbor Inn provided excellent service throughout our stay. The staff was friendly and accommodating, always ready to assist with any questions or requests we had. They made sure that both Markus and I felt welcomed and well taken care of during our time at the hotel.

Things To Do in Edmonds

Only a number of these things were within walking distance of the hotel, but they're short car rides away.

Main Street

Main Street is a vibrant and inviting hub that captures the essence of this delightful coastal town. Lined with charming storefronts, cozy cafes and a captivating blend of local shops, Main Street is a must-visit destination for anyone seeking a memorable shopping and dining experience.

As we strolled along Main Street with Markus, we couldn't help but be drawn in by the small-town charm and welcoming atmosphere. The street exudes a sense of community, with locals and visitors mingling and enjoying the offerings of this bustling avenue. The boutiques that grace Main Street are a treasure trove of unique finds. From quaint antique shops to contemporary clothing boutiques, there is something for every taste and style.

The local cafes and restaurants that dot Main Street are a culinary delight. Whether you're in the mood for a leisurely brunch, a quick snack or a fine dining experience, Main Street has it all. Since we were with Markus, who is a reactive dog that doesn't do well waiting at patios, we picked up something quick at MARKET Edmonds and ate on the go. We're still thinking about that lobster roll and clam chowder. My goodness.

Brackett's Landing

Brackett's Landing offers two distinct experiences on its south and north sides. On Brackett's Landing South, we were greeted by a charming beach area with a wide expanse of sand, ideal for beach combing and leisurely strolls along the shore. The serene atmosphere and breathtaking views of the Puget Sound created a tranquil setting, although it was fairly busy during our sunset visit, with a few dogs enjoying the beach. The path on the south side is relatively short, leading to a pier where people often fish, offering a limited walking area.

On the other hand, Brackett's Landing North provides a unique experience, centred around the vibrant Edmonds Underwater Park. This area is popular among divers and we observed many divers preparing their gear during our morning visit. The path on the north side is also brief, leading down to the water and ending in a loop where visitors pause to appreciate the scenic views. Dogs are not permitted beyond this point, so we spent some time at the loop before returning.

Marina Beach Park

We had the pleasure of visiting Marina Beach Park, which provided a delightful coastal experience. Although direct water access from the park was limited, we discovered a dedicated off-leash dog park towards the end, providing ample space for dogs to run freely and enjoy beach access.

Don't miss the chance to visit this charming park in Edmonds and witness the lively energy of dogs and the scenic beauty of the shoreline.
